What is the "Golden Visa"?

The "Golden Visa" programme is a quick way for foreign investors to be granted a residence permit through investment activities carried out within the territory Portuguese, which also allows them to travel freely schengen area countries without the need for a visa.

Who can apply for a "Golden Visa"

Anyone other than a Portuguese, EU or European Free Trade Agreement (EFTA) citizen.

What are the benefits of the Golden Visa?

What are the necessary documentary requirements?

• passport or other valid travel document
• proof of entry and legal stay in national territory
• proof of health insurance
• application for consultation of the Criminal Record Portuguese by the SEF
• criminal record certificate of the country of origin or the country where he has resided for more than one year
• proof of the regularised contributory situation by submitting a negative declaration of the updated debt issued by the Customs and Social Security Authority

What is the validity of the "Golden Visa"?

• the residence permit has a validity of 1 year, and can be renewed for 2 years, provided that the investment is maintained and the following periods of stay in Portugal are observed:

1. 7 days, followed or interpolated, in the 1st year

2. 14 days, followed or interpolated, in subsequent periods of 2 years

Note: Keep the investment for a period of five years

What are the requirements for obtaining?

Acquisition of real estate:

• minimum investment of 500,000 Euros
• purchase of one or more properties
• possibility of co-ownership
• all types of property
• own housing or lease

Transfer of funds:

• minimum investment and 1,000,000 Euros
• funds transferred from abroad to a bank Portuguese
• total freedom to invest the funds
• possibility to use the funds to invest in business shares

Job creation:

• creation of a minimum of 10 jobs
• investment without minimum value
• without limitations of areas/activities
• possibility of granting subsidies, incentives, benefits

Can you get "Golden Visa" for the family?

• yes it is possible that the investor's family members may also apply for and obtain a residence permit from Portugal and will be extended to members of the household, i.e. dependent children, spouses and family members
